EIU Aim High Scholarships

EIU's financial aid programs can significantly reduce - and in some cases completely eliminate - tuition and fees for qualified Illinois students who enroll at EIU.

EIU Local Scholars

EIU Local Scholars Program

EIU will reduce the cost of your remaining tuition and required fees to $0 if you meet all of these criteria:

  • Your family's annual income is $100,000 or less

  • You are an Illinois resident in a county that is within a 50-mile radius of EIU

  • You have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale

  • You are admitted to EIU as a full-time incoming freshman (maximum 15 credit hours)

  • You have your EIU financial aid packaged and completed by June 1

  • You meet all other AIM HIGH Grant requirements

EIU Promise Program

EIU will reduce the cost of your remaining tuition and required fees to $0 if you meet all of these criteria:

  • Your family's annual income is $80,000 or less

  • You are an Illinois resident and current high school or college student

  • You have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale

  • You are admitted to EIU as a full-time incoming freshman or transfer student (maximum 15 credit hours)

  • You have your EIU financial aid packaged and completed by June 1

  • You meet all other AIM HIGH Grant requirements

EIU Promise

Automatic Panther Family Scholarship

If you have an immediate family member who graduated from EIU, you could be eligible for this $1,000 annual scholarship. The criteria are:

  • You have an immediate family member (defined as a parent, step-parent, grandparent, sibling or child) who graduated from Eastern Illinois University

  • You have a minimum 2.8 GPA on a 4.0 scale

  • You are admitted to EIU as a full-time incoming first-year or transfer student

  • You have your EIU financial aid packaged and completed by June 1

  • You meet all other AIM HIGH Grant requirements

EIU Cost Match

EIU Cost Match

EIU will match the out-of-pocket cost of attendance of any regionally accredited public university in the United States (outside Illinois). To qualify, you must:

  • Submit a Financial Aid award letter from a qualifying university

  • Be a resident of Illinois, with at least one parent (listed on your FAFSA) also an Illinois resident

  • Have a minimum 3.3 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)

  • Have your financial aid packaged and completed by June 1

  • Meet all other AIM HIGH Grant requirements

Freshman Textbook Rental Grant

You will automatically receive EIU’s Textbook Rental Grant of $300 per year over 4 years if:

  • You are an Illinois resident and current high school student

  • You have your financial aid packaged and completed by June 1

  • You have a minimum 3.3 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)

  • You are admitted to EIU as a full-time incoming freshman

  • You meet all other AIM HIGH Grant requirements

You will automatically receive EIU’s Textbook Rental Grant of $300 per year over 2 years if:

  • You are an Illinois resident

  • You are admitted to EIU as a full-time incoming transfer student

  • You have a minimum 3.3 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)

  • You have your financial aid packaged and completed by June 1

  • You meet all other AIM HIGH Grant requirements
