We know that cost is an important factor when choosing a college or university. That’s why Eastern Illinois University works hard to keep tuition affordable.
With that in mind, we are here to help. Our Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships will assist you in finding and applying for the right scholarships, grants, work-study jobs and/or loans.
During recent academic years, EIU has processed more than $118 million in financial aid for its students. The average financial aid package was $14,000.
Good news. If you're an undergraduate student from any of the states that border Illinois – Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri and Wisconsin – there's no extra tuition to pay. You pay the exact same tuition rate as someone from Illinois. (Even if you’re beyond the reach of our neighbor states, but you have an exemplary academic record, you may qualify for in-state tuition.)
If you’re beyond the reach of our neighbor states, but are an undergraduate student with a 3.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale, you qualify for the Distinguished Out-of-State Student Rate.
If you do not meet the required GPA standard, you can fill out a request for consideration, which will be reviewed and assessed to determine if you will qualify for the in-state rate.
