Accreditation

Eastern Illinois University is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is recognized by the US Department of Education. The accreditation criteria serve to define institutional quality in respect to its mission, ethical and responsible conduct, provision of a quality education through program delivery, resources, and support, and institutional planning and evaluation to promote institutional improvement. Atop program accreditation, Eastern’s Educator Preparation Programs (EPPs) have the opportunity to be nationally recognized by their Specialty Professional Association (SPA). The program review process requires each individual program seeking recognition to provide data-based evidence supporting quality field and clinical experiences and candidate performance on a set of discipline-based standards specific to content knowledge, professional knowledge, and pedagogical skills.
