INTRODUCTION
As your EIU admission counselor, I am here to guide you through each step of the college admissions process and help you and your family conquer any challenges you may face. Eastern Illinois University offers many opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience both academically and recreationally and also provides students the tools for success for years to come. I look forward to welcoming you to the EIU family, future Panther!
About me: I entered the field of college admissions after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and realizing that I wasn’t ready to spend every day teaching in the same classroom yet. Having loved my own admission counselor, my plan was to work in admissions somewhere for “a couple years” until I figured out my next move. Fast forward two decades, a master’s degree, three colleges/universities, and countless incredible personal connections and friendships later, here I am still living in the Chicago area and loving being able to help my students and their families through the EIU admission process.
Advice for students: Have fun with your college search and don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it. Research your colleges and use resources like family members, favorite teachers, counselors, coaches, and so on to learn from their personal college experience stories. Visit colleges virtually if you aren’t able to make an in-person trip, and most of all, get to know your admission counselor - me!
Favorite place on campus: I love that Old Main, our building resembling a castle, can be seen from out on the highway when I am on my way back to campus. Since I live in the Chicago suburbs and don’t get to see campus every day, seeing the towers of Old Main in the distance as I return means I am almost there!
