Olga Abella's doctoral thesis work focused on heroism in epic. This led to an interest in the concept of heroism in contemporary society as depicted in the superheroes of comic books. Her primary love, however, is poetry. She teaches courses in Milton, creative writing, heroism, Renaissance and seventeenth-century literature, and composition. Her poems have been published in various journals and online magazines, including The MacGuffin, CALYX, Long Island Quarterly, black dirt, Natural Bridge, Kalliope, Urban Spaghetti, poetrybay, Verse Wisconsin, Ginosko, Main Street Rag. She has published two chapbooks, Grasping to What Is and What it Takes, and a book of poems, Watching the Wind.
