INTRODUCTION

Do you want to help people? If so, you have found the right major!

High-Impact learning is the key to programs in Human Services. Our students participate in experiential learning opportunities including practicum, service learning in the community, work-place internships, and study abroad opportunities. Graduates become leaders in a wide range of human services programs that improve quality of life for individuals, families and communities throughout the lifespan.

Our students leave with an interdisciplinary knowledge base as well as practical experience gained through a required practicum, capstone internship, and involvement with the development, facilitation, and evaluation of family programming through the onsite Child and Family Life Education Center. Human Services provides a good foundation for a graduate degree in human services, aging studies, social work, or related fields, and completion of the degree allows graduates to apply for provisional status as Certified Family Life Educators (CFLE) through the National Council on Family Relations.

I'm always happy to talk about our programs. Contact me at mlsherwood@eiu.edu for more information, or to set up a campus tour.

Make your passion your profession with Human Services.
