Janet McCumber is currently serving as the Director of Choral Activities. She holds a DMA in Choral Music from the University of Illinois; a MA in Choral and Orchestral Conducting from Eastern Illinois University; and a BS in Music Education from the University of Illinois. She directs the Concert Choir, Camerata, and University Chorus as well as teaching undergraduate and graduate conducting and non-Western music. She is also on the faculty of the MA in Music Ed program through the School of Continuing Education at EIU. Previously she has taught at Roosevelt University in Chicago and was the director of choirs at Villa Grove High School in Villa Grove, Illinois. She serves on the boards of the Illinois chapter of the American Choral Directors' Association (ACDA), the North American British Music Studies Association (NABMSA), and is an active member of the Urbana alumnae chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota.
