Dr. Julie A. Chadd

INTRODUCTION

Julie Chadd is a Professor in Teaching, Learning, and Foundations.

Dr. Chadd taught high school keyboarding and computer applications courses in Macon, Georgia before moving to Southern Illinois and beginning her graduate studies. While in Carbondale, she worked as an administrative assistant while earning her Master's Degree. Upon completing her Master's Degree, she began advising and teaching at-risk freshmen college students. In working with these students, Dr. Chadd focused her attention on study skills, time management, and test taking strategies.

After completing her doctoral studies, Chadd received the Illinois Business Education Association's Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Research Award. She has also received the Outstanding New Teacher of the Year Award from the Illinois Business Education Association and the Illinois Association for Career and Technical Education.

Dr. Chadd is the advisor to Pi Omega Pi, the business education honor society. She also teaches courses in Secondary Education, the Career and Technical Education program, and the Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction program.  Her research interests include:  teaching methods, active learning, service learning, and integrated learning.
