The purpose of the Latin American Student Organization is to:
- Promote and address the educational, cultural and social aspects of Latino communities on all levels. This shall be done through creative events such as lectures, workshops, films and/or attending any Latino conference or performances, etc.
- Work with students, faculty, staff and other community resources in addressing issues of diversity, particularly as they relate to Latino students, by reaching out to other groups to expand our horizons and gather information on other societies in the surrounding area.
- Aid in providing assistance to incoming and enrolled students and help them adapt to life at Eastern Illinois University.
- To support all members in achieving their fullest potential by providing social and academic leadership along with spiritual growth experiences.
Meeting information
Interested in joining LASO? We hold meetings weekly, alternating between social and business agendas. Business meetings are held at 6 p.m. Wednesdays in the Martinsville Room at the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union. Social meetings alternate — please feel free to e-mail any of the officers for a current meeting schedule.
