The Department has several high quality laser systems.  There is a 4 Watt Argon Ion Laser, many Helium-Neon and diode lasers, 6 Nitrogen Pumped Tunable Dye Lasers (see Laser Teaching Lab), a Nd:YAG laser with frequency doubling, plus various other lasers.  Several optical tables are in the Department to help in optical alignment around these lasers.  We have detection equipment which includes a 1.0 m monochromator.  We have a dark room for creating and developing holograms.  The optics facilities at EIU are diverse and interesting for the classroom and for research.
