Commuter Connections
Welcome to the EIU Commuter Connections homepage!
Sometimes commuter students may find it difficult to develop the connections and attachments that students living on campus form. At EIU however, we have a program in place called Commuter Connections designed to maximize commuter students' college experience and help ensure a smooth transition. We provide our commuter students with all the connections and support they’ll need to find success at EIU!
We pair each commuting freshman with a Commuter Mentor—a current EIU student who serves as a personal success coach. On a weekly basis Commuter Mentors and their commuter student groups will connect, By interacting weekly Commuter Mentors are able to answer any questions that might arise, as well as keep our commuters informed about what is going on around campus. Communications can be as simple as a Facebook message or text, or as personal as a lunch meeting!
