Costumer (part-time)

The Theatre Arts Department at Eastern Illinois University is seeking a part-time costumer.  Applicant must be an Illinois resident and have three years of experience in costume production.   This individual will work closely with students in basic construction skills and help them understand how garments are constructed and altered; must interpret designers drawings and be able to execute and alter patterns as needed; use sewing and serger/overlock machines; troubleshoot common machine problems; maintain the costume shop; and have strong organizational skills to meet deadlines for productions and track inventory.  To apply, send letter of application and resume by June 30, 2009 to the address above or by email to eiu_employment@eiu.edu . Graduate Placement Officer

The Career Services Center at Eastern Illinois University is seeking a 10-month Graduate Placement Officer for students and alumni in the College of Education and Professional Studies (COEPS).   Applicant must be an Illinois resident and have four years of career counseling and/or professional recruitment experience OR a bachelor’s degree and one year of experience.  A master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, or College Student Affairs is strongly preferred as well as proficiency with MS Office and use of Internet, databases, and social media networking. The successful individual will be team-oriented, committed to continuous learning, maintain a highly professional image, and able to establish effective working relationships with school district administrators and COEPS faculty.  This individual will be required to drive 12 passenger vans for local job fairs and student field trips both in state and out of state, as well as carry boxes up to 30 lbs.  Candidates will need to have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of basic job search skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects.  Occasional evenings and overnight travel is required.  To apply, send letter of application, transcript and resume by June 26, 2009 to the address below or by email to eiu_employment@eiu.edu . Office Manager

Eastern Illinois University is seeking candidates for full-time Civil Service positions of Office Manager which may be located in one of several university departments.  Office Managers work under direction as the personal assistant to one or more principals.  An in-depth knowledge of the organization, programs, policies, and procedures of the unit, along with the ability to operate computer systems utilizing various office software packages is essential to the performance of duties.  Employees at this level function with the independence and authority that have a significant impact on the unit.  Qualified candidates must be a High school graduate or equivalent; have 24 months of clerical/office support work experience as identified at http://www.sucss.state.il.us/classspecs/detail.asp?ID=2811 , and will be required to pass a Civil Service Examination to include keyboarding accurately at a rate of at least 40 net wpm.  Minimum starting salary $13.60/hour.  

Payroll Professional

Eastern Illinois University, located in Charleston, Illinois is seeking a highly organized professional to supervise an office responsible for the payroll of over 4500 staff and student employees.  Required qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management or a field related to the position and two years of professional level accounting, managerial and/or business experience (one year of which was at an administrative level).  The competitive candidate should be someone who promotes a team environment, can effectively schedule and distribute workload, can lead and motivate and who supports a "customer first" setting. This is a civil service position and requires civil service testing, along with Illinois residency.

Recycling Coordinator

Eastern Illinois University is seeking a full-time Recycling Coordinator.  Applicant must be an Illinois resident and have one year experience managing such a program for a large institution AND either course work equivalent to a Baccalaureate degree OR three years experience managing a major recycling program.  This individual will work closely with students in managing this program; attend and make presentations at meetings and conferences; work closely with local governmental agencies; maintain accurate records and prepare reports; understand and apply regulations; and have strong organization and communication skills.   To apply, send letter of application and resume by June 30, 2009 to the address below or by email to eiu_employment@eiu.edu . CUSTODIAL POSITIONS

We maintain a pool of applicants to fill various extra-help (temporary) custodial positions throughout the year. The base pay for this position is $8.00 per hour.


COOK/KITCHEN LABORER POSITIONS

Eastern is looking for energetic, friendly, flexible individuals to fill in as extra-help cooks and kitchen laborers throughout the school year. You will work with seasoned personnel, as well as student employees, as you further your expertise in preparing nourishing and attractive meals and facilitate the operation of the dining centers.
