Commencement is one of the most exciting events of the year at Eastern Illinois University — and for the graduates involved, it's one of the most memorable days of their lives. Here in the Alumni Services office, we are happy to play a part in such an important milestone. We work hard to make the experience a great one, for graduates and their guests.
EIU hosts two annual commencements, at the conclusion of the spring and fall semesters. We do not host a summer commencement. Those graduating at the end of the summer semester are included in the fall ceremonies. If summer graduates wish to participate in the spring ceremonies they should contact their college Dean’s office.
Students, you need to start preparing for commencement long before the big day arrives, so be sure to check the Before Commencement page for details on applying for graduation, ordering caps and gowns, picking up guest tickets, and more.
This site should provide the information most people need to complete their commencement planning, but if you have a question that hasn't been answered here, please contact us at mlhackler@eiu.edu or 217-581-6892.
