School of Technology Chair
About the Position
The Chair is regarded as the chief administrative officer of the School who represents the faculty and staff of the unit and the administration and who is responsible for the execution of University policies which concern the School. The Chair reports to the Dean of the Lumpkin College of Business and Applied Sciences, and has primary responsibility for the leadership and administration of programs. The undergraduate program areas within the School include, Applied Engineering and Technology; Career and Technical Education; and Organizational and Professional Development. The graduate programs include the M.S in Technology and an interdisciplinary M.S. in Sustainable Energy. The chair administers all instructional programs in the School of Technology, works with faculty and staff to develop curriculum and coordinate appropriate academic assessment activities, makes recommendations regarding all personnel matters including hiring and evaluation of faculty and staff, promotes faculty development and mentoring, administers all departmental budgets, and communicates and interacts with alumni, the advisory board, industrial and business communities, engages in philanthropic efforts, and facilitates actions which promote diversity.
