The Black Knights of the Embarras was established here at Eastern Illinois University in 1952. A social society, the Black Knights have long held the traditions of building the gap of camaraderie from combat to college and soldier to scholar. The Black Knights are composed of Veterans and Non-Veterans on the Eastern Illinois University campus as well as off campus. Like any organization the Black Knights of the Embarras have evolved as times have changed, once thought to have completely disappeared the fact is the Knights never left. The Black Knights believe in friendships that span a lifetime. A brotherhood of men and women that are scholars, individuals of the upmost character, individuals that you can count on long after your time at Eastern Illinois University has past. Once a Knight, you are forever a Knight.
