Our definition of service learning is the following: Service Learning is when students are expected (as part of the course) to participate in a service/volunteer opportunity to put into practice what they are learning in their specific field of study. This intentional combination of hands on experience, classroom instruction and reflection/assignment after service is what makes Service Learning a powerful growth experience. From your perspective as a faculty member, should any other information be included in this definition?
