Graduate Admissions
Thank you for your interest in graduate study at Eastern Illinois University. To be eligible for degree candidacy, applicants must meet all of the requirements for admission to the Graduate School. To be considered for admission, applicants should:
- Submit a Graduate School application at http://www.eiu.edu/~graduate/prospective_admissions.php.
The application fee is $30. - Send the Graduate School an official transcript, in a sealed envelope, from the institution that awarded your bachelor’s degree.
- Mail or e-mail a letter of application, a résumé, and three letters of recommendation to Dr. Marilyn Coles, Music Department Graduate Coordinator. Applicants should complete the Graduate Program Reference Form and give to the recommender to complete and sign. The recommender may mail directly to Dr. Marilyn Coles or sign across a sealed envelope and return to the applicant to send. If the applicant chooses not to sign the waiver, then the recommender may fill out and submit the form by email to Dr. Marilyn Coles (mjcoles@eiu.edu) or by mail to:

Singers and instrumentalists should complete an audition; conductors should submit a video recording of a recent performance or rehearsal and an audition; composers should submit scores and recordings of original compositions.

Complete a personal interview.
