Our Freshman Writing Program serves as part of EIU’s General Education requirements. All Eastern students are required to take two writing courses, preferably taken during the first year of college enrollment: English 1001G, Composition and Language, and English 1002G, Composition and Literature.
In addition, English 1000 is offered for students who need extra work to prepare
them for 1001G, and Honors versions of 1001G and 1002G are offered, English
1091G and 1092G, for our Honors students.
